Why Choose A Compact Wine Refrigerator

Written by Post on Friday, July 31st, 2009 in Food & Drink.

Whether your an passionate wine collector or just like to have a few bottles available for a party, a compact wine refrigerator is an ideal way to store your wine. With wine cooler capacity ranging from eight bottles up to 800 bottles, a compact wine refrigerator can fit beneath a kitchen cabinet and a larger one can be placed against a wall. Dual zone wine fridges can be used to store different wine types at different temperatures for drinking now or for longer-term storage and aging.

For the many people who do not have the space to build a mini wine cellar, a compact wine refrigerator can provide an ideal solution. A compact under-counter wine refrigerator will store wines at the ideal wine temperature and it should also be remembered that even those wines that are best served at room temperature should be stored in a cool environment prior to opening to protect the integrity of the wine.

One of the advantages of a dual zone compact wine refrigerator lies is its ability to store different types of wines at different temperatures within the same wine cooler unit. The recommended storage temperature for white wines is between 46 and 54 degrees Farenheit and for red wines it is 54 to 64 degrees Farenheit. As well as offering best practice temperature control, a wine refrigerator also maintains the correct humidity for wine storage.

How To Store Wine The Right Way

Most wine lovers understand that they must treat their wines with respect and avoid vibration to the bottles to protect their wine. Any good quality wine refrigerator should be free from vibration and some of the better wine refrigerators are now beginning to use LED lighting in the interior to further protect the wine from deterioration.

Even low wattage bulbs can increase the temperature in a small enclosed space like a compact wine refrigerator. Because wines should be stored in darkness, the use of LED lights that do not emit any appreciable heat will assist in creating a more stable environment. Regardless of the type of lights you have, you should only open the wine refrigerator when necessary.

Most compact wine refrigerators have metal or glass racks and will store the bottles at a slight angle to ensure the corks stay moist by remaining in contact with the wine at all times. Depending on the space available for a wine refrigerator – from compact under-counter units that can hold up to a dozen bottles to larger furniture-style units with a capacity to store many hundreds of bottles – a wine refrigerator can protect your wine collection from the temperature, humidity and vibration hazards that can alter taste, hasten aging and reduce the appeal of your wine.

At his wine blog – ChrisOnWine – Chris Miley occasionally mentions wine refrigerators amongst many other wine topics.

Most people that have visited Las Vegas and who have also relaxed back and enjoyed one or more of the many different magic shows in that city have come away very impressed and will surely recommend the city as being a place where you get to see the best magic shows in the entire world.

Creating An Illusion

Magic revolves around creating an illusion and so what appears relevant and real one minute will soon disappear and vanish the very next instant leaving kids in particular marveling at how such an illusion is created. For a good magic show, the Lance Burton or the Master Magician show is one that is sure to leave kids and adults suspended in a state of total disbelief.

However, there are also some magic shows that have a dash of real comedy in them and a case in point is the Penn and Taylor show that is brought to you by the best couple of crowd entertainers. You will be amazed at the tricks they perform and they will even contrive to share some ‘secrets’ with you that will add to your incredulity.

Another good magic show is the Rick Thomas show and it will introduce you to a unique world of magic which is known as The Art of Dreaming that includes creation of the most evocative type of magical illusions designed to entertain you and furthermore, the entertainment is further heightened with the introduction of birds plus, team dances and the exciting Bengal tiger.

Last but not least, The Showgirls of magic show is one of the best examples of Las Vegas style magic entertainment. These showgirls that are not only gorgeous to look at can also perform some truly enthralling illusion-creating feats that will have you marveling at it all. Their show is a mix of cabaret and magic as well as comedy and dance and is well worth checking out.

If after watching these and other entertaining magic shows you feel compelled into making a stab at learning some of these tricks, you could start your learning at a good magic shop. These shops generally support a local magic organization and will be ready to provide advice regarding learning simple magic tricks. In addition, they will also give you a demonstration of magic tricks that you might want to learn.

Tips For Sending Large Files

Written by Post on Wednesday, July 29th, 2009 in Computers & Technology.

There may come a time when you need send a file over the Internet that your email service just can’t handle. Sending large files is a pain, especially when your email spends quite a bit of time trying to attach it before finally tell you that it is just too big.

If you travel for business, this can be a huge problem, as you may need to be sending large files all the time.

As a local business sending large files and photos can be a problem so I spoke to my local computer repair company who were very helpful and gave me some very sound advice.

It seems that videos are becoming more popular online, you may have a hard time sending these out as well. Photos and videos are getting larger and longer, thanks to advances in digital photography, and sometimes, there is no way to share these without displaying them publicly online.

For large file transfers e-mail is simply not the way forward so you will need to do some checking online and find a different methodology. Because the problem is becoming prevalent there are a number of companies that provide solutions for business users and home users too.

You will find sites, can be used to send just about anything. Some will save the information on their server for a period of time, allowing the recipient a few days to a week to pick up the file on their own computer. After that time period, the file then disappears.

You do have a lot of choices today for sending large files, though at one time, this was unheard of online. People are beginning to rely on the Internet more and more for personal and business communications, and the Internet is trying to keep up.

There will of course be a number of considerations you will need to take into account when using these types of service. Cost is one factor but equally important is the security of the data you are sending. Is the service you choose to use an established provider with defined data protection protocols in place for example.

If sending large files for business is an ongoing and increasing problem then it may be more cost effective to try and find an alternate in house solution. The advantage of course is that on the one hand the ongoing cost could be less, but more importantly you will be sure that your data will be as secure as it can be in your own hands.

For the time being , depending whether you need a business or home user large file sending service at least now you know that there are such services available online if you find your self in need of a quick fix or an ongoing solution.

Will Learning How To Detox The Body Boost Your Well Being

Written by Post on Tuesday, July 28th, 2009 in Health & Fitness.

Looking after mine and my familys health has always been very important to me. I’ve managed to avoid being ill, and can’t remember the last time I had a cold or virus of any kind – or certainly not that lasted more than half a day or so. So it came as a bit of a surprise when I started feeling run down and tired all the time, and getting out of bed in the morning was becoming quite a chore. I’d visited the doctor several times and had quite a few blood tests, but they couldn’t find anything wrong with me.

I finally went to see an alternative health therapist one day who intimated that I could do with going on a detox diet, and generally learning about how to detox the body and understand the impact of toxins on my health. It seemed a lot of people had a lot of good things to say about it, so I spent a few weeks doing some research to learn all about it, and try to understand why alternative health therapists say it’s so popular and recommend detox diets and recommend starting with the 7 day detox diet so avidly.

Another thing she suggested to me was to try a foot detox. I have a foot spa two or three times a week now, if I have the time, but as a suitable alternative, the detox foot patch can do just as good a job – but with the patches you don’t get a relaxing foot massage at the same time

This is what I learnt about detoxing your body.

Herbal teas and water and plenty of both

Drinking plenty of fluid is absolutely vital while you are following a healthy detox diet because the water will help your body excrete toxins from your system. It also helps to prevent constipation, helps your internal organs function more efficiently, and encourage clear skin. Drink 6 to 8 glasses of water each day (about 2 liters), and more when you exercise.

As a rule of thumb, for every hour that your exercise each day, drink an extra 2 glasses of water. Tap water which has been filtered to remove the chlorine and impurities is the best option. Ideally drink water that is at room temperature. If the thought of drinking that much water is overbearing, try herbal teas as well – preferably loose leaf rather than tea bags. Peppermint, camomile, dandelion root, horsetail and yarrow are especially great in a detox as their hidden ingredients assist in the detox process. Roibosch and green tea has other health benefits too as it is rich in antioxidants.

Should You Go Organic

When you’re following a detox diet you don’t need to buy everything organic, as organic produce is normally higher priced than non organic equivalents, but a little organic produce will go a long way to getting you started.

It’s not a major problem if you can’t get hold of any organic produce. All you need to worry about is eating enough fresh foods regardless of them being organic or not, rather than not get enough of them. However, there are some good reasons for having as much as possible of organic produce on a healthy detox diet.

Artificial fertilizers and pesticides are banned from production of organic foods, so they have very little or no potentially toxic man made chemicals. Organic farming is a hotly debated and controversial topic because there is growing evidence that the ‘cocktail’ effect of man made fertilizers and pesticides are linked to some of the serious health conditions of today.

Organic foods are subject to a lot less processing. Ultimately this means organic foods not genetically modified and are free from hydrogenated fats and artificial additives. And you may notice that organic foods also taste better and have much deeper flavors.

Lists Of Different Water Types

Written by Post on Monday, July 27th, 2009 in Food & Drink.

Sparkling water is just one of all bottled water types  sometimes referred to as “spring water” but that’s not really accurate. The processing and origin of various types of bottled water really makes them quite different in taste and content. In fact, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-the federal agency that regulates all types of bottled water-has established guidelines called standards of identity that classify bottled water into several different water types:

Spring Water: Ah, the ever-popular “spring water” is defined as bottled water derived from an underground formation from which water flows naturally to the surface of the earth. To qualify as spring water, it must be collected only at the spring or through a borehole tapping the underground formation feeding the spring. If the collection process uses some type of an external force, the water must be from the same stratum as the spring and must retain the quality and all of the same physical properties of water that flows naturally from a spring to the surface.

Purified Water: This is a type of drinking water that has been treated with processes such as distillation, deionization or reverse osmosis (we’ll get to those terms later). Basically, this just means that the bacteria and dissolved solids have been removed from the water by some process, making it “purified.” This type of bottled water is usually labeled as purified drinking water but can also be labeled for the specific process used to produce it, for example, reverse osmosis drinking water or distilled drinking water. There are lots of bottled water brands that are actually purified drinking water.

Mineral Water: Okay, ready for some science? Mineral water contains not less than 250 parts per million total dissolved solids and is defined by its constant level and relative proportions of mineral and trace elements at the point of emergence from the source. No minerals can be added to the water.

Sparkling Bottled Water: Yes, the fizzy kind. But what makes it fizzy? This type of water contains the same amount of carbon dioxide that it had when it emerged from its source. Sparkling bottled waters may be labeled as sparkling drinking water, sparkling mineral water, sparkling spring water, etc. A large assortment of calorie free flavors to flavor sparkling water to great taste is sold at http://allfreightfree.com

Artesian Water/Artesian Well Water: Ready for some more science? Artesian water is which comes from a well that taps a confined aquifer-a water-bearing underground layer of sand or rock – in which level of the water level is above top of the aquifer.

Well Water: This one is pretty easy. Well water is exactly what it sounds like- water from a hole made in the ground that taps the water source.

Water of Municipal/Tap : As you know it is the water which reaches in your home through pipe. While tap water isn’t regulated by the FDA (but we thought it should be included here), it must meet the strict standards of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Municipal tap water is generally of excellent quality, however, many people prefer the taste and enjoy the convenience of bottled water, which, in most cases, undergoes additional processing and often retains the pleasant characteristics of its natural source.

Bottled Water Regulation: The FDA is responsible for the food and pharmaceutical industries, two industries where safety and quality are of paramount importance. Yes, the FDA is full of serious customers. Therefore, bottled water is one of the most extensively regulated packaged-food products. The bottled water industry receives government oversight from federal and state agencies across the country, providing consumers with multiple layers of safety assurance – from the finished water product back to the source. Bottled water is required to be tested for the same parameters as tap water, but the standards are, in some cases, stricter than for tap water. State governments inspect and certify the “sources” of spring water, meaning that samples have been analyzed and found to be of a safe and sanitary quality according to regulation.
