What Way Does The Server Of A Web Host Work?

Many people just take web hosting for granted. They just go along with the fact that it works and then do not spend any more time thinking about it. All they know is that their website is there on the web and visitors somehow manage to find it. Other people are more curious and are interested to know how a server actually works.
How a web server works
The easiest way to explain a web server would be to say that it is a computer that is used to serve pages onto the internet. When a visitor wants to view your website they make contact with your server which will then send the pages to the visitor's computer. This might sound a bit more complicated than it actually is because the person who wants to view your site does not have to actually find the server and email a request to it. The visitor should not be aware that any of this is happening as it happens so fast in theory.
The IP address of every website is stored as its unique address. Only the number of the IP address is read so it really doesn't matter what name you give to your website. When someone looks for your site, the internet search engine will find the server for that actual IP address and then contact it. The data which has been searched for by the visitor appears on the screen of their computer after the server responds to the request by the browser. So even though we say that we are visiting a web site the reality is that the web site visits us.
So any requests in relation to the IP address of your website should be dealt with immediately by your web hosts server as it should be ready and always online waiting. But it is likely that every single web host will experience downtime at one time or another. Your data can be viewed by anyone around the world by using your IP address.
When you decide to go into internet marketing, you should make sure that you have hosting sorted out. Newbie's can find, though, that the web hosting world can be rather confusing. For example, you may come across reseller web hosting or even linux web hosting on your travels.
