Family Camping Tents – How To Choose The Right One

Written by Post on Sunday, October 11th, 2009 in Travel & Leisure.

An important element of an enjoyable camping experience is having the right tent. Camping is a fun experience, but using the wrong tent can dampen the whole thing.

There are some questions that you should ask yourself to ensure that you choose the perfect tent for both you and your family.

First of all, a simple but very important question to answer is how many people will be using the tent? This will determine the right style and size that you need.

You might want to consider purchasing a tent slightly bigger than you need. For example, if you need a tent for 5, consider buying a 6 person tent. That way you’ll most likely have plenty of room for everyone.

What kind of conditions should your tent be able to withstand? Will you camp in the summer? Spring and summer? Or will you camp year round? You want to purchase a tent that can handle the various conditions you’re likely to encounter.

There are family camping tents made mostly for fair weather and there are 3 or 4 season tents. How often will the tent be used? You want a sturdy and durable tent if you’re planning on camping frequently. If you’re camping with hyper children, you definitely want a durable tent!

How much interior space do you want or need? If comfort is important, you have to take sleeping space and storage into account. Do you want room to stand? Consider buying a dome tent.Do you plan on backpacking or hiking? You should buy a lightweight tent that you can easily carry around.

Shapes And Styles

Family camping tents are available in different shapes and can be small enough for 3 and large enough to hold 10+.

Family Cabin Tents

Cabin tents can be sectioned off to create two or more rooms and usually allow multiple entry and exit points.

Dome Style Family Tents

The rounded shape of a family dome tent adds strength, good wind resistance and good interior space.

A-Frame Style Tents

A-frame tents have a simple, lightweight design. They’re usually freestanding and easy to get set up. There’s good room at the floor but less room up top.

Umbrella Style Tents

Umbrella style tents have spacious head and floor space, can hold many people, and have good ventilation.

Different Season Tents

There are 2, 3 and 4 season family camping tents.

Two season tents are fair weather tents that are usually very inexpensive.

Three season tents are the most popular and are able to handle rain.

Four season tents have heavier construction to fight off wind stress and snow loads. They’re made of higher grade fabrics and contain more poles for added strength.

Four season tents can possibly feel hot and heavy if used in moderate weather.

Shop from a variety of family tents – you’ll find smaller 3 person tents and larger 7+ person tents

How to Choose an Above Ground Swimming Pool

Written by Post on Saturday, August 8th, 2009 in Travel & Leisure.

Intex Round Frame Above Ground Pool Set Up

Above ground pools are probably the most popular form of swimming pool today. As the name tells you an above ground swimming pool is a pool that sits above the ground rather than being buried.

Above ground pools provide a number of benefits over their in ground equivalents. One of the key benefits is safety. It is much harder for a child or a pet to fall into an above ground pool as they will often have to climb steps to gain access.

Another key advantage is ease of installation. Above ground swimming pools generally require far less ground work preparation before construction. In fact many can be built by competent DIY enthusiasts and there are some excellent swimming pool kits that make owning your own pool very affordable.

There are a number of above ground pool designs to choose from. These include both wooden and metal framed pools and vinyl sided pools. Splasher pools are a good example of easy-to-install fun backyard swimming pools. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes. From modest circular pools with a depth of 36 inches to much more substantial elliptical pools that will provide fun and exercise for the whole family.

When considering which above ground swimming pool to select it worth considering the following:

How big is the area for your swimming pool? Always leave adequate clearance around the pool for ease of access.

Who will be using the pool? If the pool is to be used by young children and non-swimmers it is sensible to select a shallower pool.

During which months and seasons will the pool get most use? Most outdoor swimming pool owners in Europe will often only use their pools during the peak summer months. You can extend the time during which your pool is usable with the insulation provided by a suitable pool enclosure.

What additional accessories will you need for your pool? Often overlooked. You may need a suitable pool heating system, a good pool cover to keep out debris, cleaners, filters and water treatment chemicals.

Armed with this information you should then contact at least two reputable swimming pool supply companies with the details of your requirements. They should be able to suggest several models of above ground swimming pools that meet your needs.

Many people are finding that there has never been a better time to invest in a pool for their back garden. There is a lot of competition between pool supply companies and many people are not spending on luxury items like swimming pools. So shop around now and you are likely to find yourself a bargain.

Saving Money at Disney World

Written by Post on Friday, August 7th, 2009 in Travel & Leisure.

Saving some cash when visiting to Walt Disney World might seem to be a contradiction, but with a little planning and preparation, visitors can have an enjoyable trip to Orlando without running up a huge bill.

The DisneyWorld Resort is absolutely huge, covering nearly 47 square miles just outside Orlando, Florida. There are four major theme areas, Epcot, MGM Studios, Animal Kingdom, and the Magic Kingdom. With so much to see, tourists almost always spend at least 7 days or more just to take it all in. Disney has built more than a dozen hotels just to house visitors to the parks.

Obviously, Disney recognizes that people are looking for different options when visiting the area. Because of this, they have hotels that fit everyone’s budget. Hotels are classified into Value, Moderate, and Deluxe levels. Value is sort of the Walt Disney way of saying less expensive, but you won’t be disappointed, as the Disney Value hotels are clean and comfortable. Moderate resorts are one step up, offering slightly larger rooms and full service dining on site.

Deluxe hotels at Disney World are top-of-the-line accommodations designed to please and pamper any visitor. Many of the hotels such as the Contemporary Resort and Yacht Club are on the elevated train, so you can simply travel to the Magic Kingdom without having a car or taking a bus. Guest accommodations are also bigger, and the Disney World experience is of course magical.

How should you go about picking a Disney Hotel? Well would you rather spend your money on presents or indulge yourself with the best, after all you are on holiday? Value options like the Disney World Pop Century Hotel can cost somewhere from $70 to $130 per night, while Deluxe Hotel start from $225 and go up from there. As you can see, if you extrapolate that by 6 to 10 nights, you would end up spending thousands extra just for a nicer place.

The choice belongs to the visitor, but no matter what you pick, tourists can be sure Disney World employees will work hard to make sure you and your family have a good time on your trip away from home.

See All Of London On The London Eye

Written by Post on Tuesday, July 7th, 2009 in Travel & Leisure.

London, the capital city of England and the United Kingdom, has numerous tourist attractions, many of which are amongst the most popular in the country. For generations London has been a popular vacation destination and much of this interest is due to the immensity of the historical buildings and the unique culture. While many of the visitor attractions found in London have a historic interest, such as the Houses of Parliament, The Tower of London and Buckingham Palace, there are many that are only recent additions, such as the London Aquarium, and the youngest of these is the London Eye.

Many still refer to the London Eye as the Millennium Wheel, the reason being that it was built to commemorate then end of the old millenium and celebrate the new. It was officially opened by the British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, in the evening of December 31 but, sadly, there were technical issues and it was not opened to the public until March 2000. Standing 135m above London it has become an unmistakable, and highly visible, landmark.

In 1895, in Earl’s Court, was the Great Wheel of London, a giant Ferris Wheel which could carry around 1,600 people at a time. Unfortunately it was demolished in 1907 but today London has a replacement in the London Eye. Although it is not the largest Ferris wheel in the world it can legitimately claim to be the worlds largest cantilever observation tower!

Although the London Eye cannot carry as many people as the Great Wheel of London could it can manage to carry 25 people in each of its 32 capsules. Usually you must remain seated when on a Ferris wheel but on the London Eye you can get up and walk around during the 30 minute revolution.

Around 3.5 million people take a flight on the London Eye each year making it the most popular paid visitor attraction in London and the UK. The main reason people take the trip is to enjoy the most amazing views of London. During a revolution it is possible to take in some of the many London landmarks such as Westminster Abbey, Hampton Court Palace and Buckingham Palace. One of the best views is of the Houses of Parliament which are so close that it would appear that they are just below.

The London Eye has proved to be a popular spot for marriage proposals and weddings and they now offer special wedding packages. In fact there are a number of things available which also include educational aspects for schools and colleges as well as river boat trips along the Thames.

Taking a flight on this amazing visitor attraction should be top of your list of things to do if you are about to take a weekend break or vacation in London. If your time in London is limited it is a real time saver as you are able to take in nearly all of the most important London landmarks during the 30 minute trip which is impossible to do any other way (excluding a helicopter or balloon ride).

If you are looking for accommodation in London you may appreciate the listings of hotels near the London Eye or the cheap London hotels listed on http://www.londonhotelhelper.com/

Visit Buckingham Palace And London

Written by Post on Wednesday, July 1st, 2009 in Travel & Leisure.

England is wonderful and exciting nation to visit for a vacation. It has an awesome selection of visitor attractions well worth a visit enough to satisfy all tastes. For example the historical city of York which is known to have been inhabited since the days of the Roman Empire, Liverpool, and Torquay known as the English Riviera. One of the most interesting, and famous, places to visit is London the capital city of the U. K.

London is an amazing destination to visit, either just for a weekend or, hopefully for longer. You would be surprised at how many people living in the United Kingdom of Great Britain who have not yet visited London, even more surprising when you are mindful of the fact it is usually top of the vast majority of visitors lists (of most enjoyable attractions they went to).

There are so many things to do and see in London that it is simply not possible to list them all at the same time. Surprisingly one of the newest attractions in London also happens to be one of the most popular – The London Eye. Another popular attraction nearby to the London Eye is Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. However, one place which must not be missed is Buckingham Palace.

Buckingham Palace is England’s most well known Royal residence, as it is home to Queen Elizabeth II of England. The Palace is is placed in the heart of London which makes it an important focus for visitors. The daily pageant of ‘Changing of the Guard’ is interesting to watch and quintessentially English.

Buckingham Palace was originally called Buckingham House. It was originally a large townhouse, constructed in 1703 for the Duke of Buckingham. It is actually the townhouse which forms the main core of the palace as we are familiar with today.

Throughout the subsequent 3 quarters of a century Buckingham House was made larger with the building of three wings forming a central courtyard. The primary architects responsible for these additions were Edward Blore and John Nash. John Nash was also responsible for the interior design of the monumental staterooms.

The famous architect Aston Webb was responsible for the building of the principal facade of Buckingham Palace which, in 1912, he re-designed. Webb along with the sculptor Sir Thomas Brock were the winners of a competition to design a memorial to Queen Victoria. This memorial is still seen today.

The Queen has a few other royal residences besides Buckingham Palace. Annually the Queen stays, at Sandringham House in Norfolk, during Christmas. Sandringham House is privately owned by the Queen (a private royal residence).

A further private residence is Balmoral Castle, situated in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. The Queen was in Balmoral Castle when she heard of the sad incident involving Diana (the ex-wife of Prince Charles).

If you would like to take a break in the United Kingdom then you may be pleased to learn that it is possible to find cheap hotels in London without any great effort, on the other hand you may wish to reside in more luxurious accommodation and the small number of boutique hotels in London should be more than satisfactory.
