Searching For Low Cost Medical Insurance

Written by Post on Sunday, February 14th, 2010 in Home & Family.

Over the years, health care premiums have skyrocketed. Obtaining affordable medical plan is exactly what you want if you are a family that can’t afford paying for medical services in the event of extensive illnesses or accidents. It’s a thing you should be concerned with because accidents and illnesses are sometimes inevitable.

Most times, the smart thing to do would be to purchase health care coverage for all of your family members. If it is only you, then you will want individual coverage. The premiums of health care from quality medical insurance company tend to be quite high and, considering the fact that you only get something in return if an illness or accident affects you, you need to be cautious regarding the price you agree to pay. You can address these points simply by searching for a low-cost health care plan.

In the beginning, you should check for governmental assistance or other things like this, particularly if you are elderly or poor, because there are programs such as Medicaid to assist you and your family. If this is not the situation, you will need to make yourself aware of what’s available to you and at what cost.

If you know the alternatives as far as hospitals as well as health plan prices are concerned, it’ll assist you in making the proper choice which may bring down the cost of the medical insurance.

Conducting your search on the Web might provide you with this kind of knowledge. You will find many sites which may give you comparisons about cheap medical plans, which you need to cautiously read prior to purchasing suitable medical insurance. Investigate the insurance representative who is proposing the deal, as well as the carrier he or she represents.

Some of the techniques for obtaining low cost medical insurance will be paying premiums every year, frequently reviewing your insurance contract, and making use of group programs which may reduce the medical insurance costs.

Cypress Springs Alzheimer’s Care

Written by Post on Thursday, February 4th, 2010 in Home & Family.

It is a challenge that can sometimes be overwhelming to take care of a loved one with Alzheimer’s. Cypress Springs Residence for Alzheimer’s Disease can help provide the care your loved one needs if they have been diagnosed with this condition.

Providing basic care for a patient adds new demands to that person daily as a result of the changing intensity of the disease as it progresses through various stages. Cypress Springs Residence for Alzheimer’s has a unique approach in aiding the patient and family members.

Alzheimer’s Disease is progressive, degenerative, and to date, irreversible condition. Nerve fibers become tangled in the brain and protein deposits develop on the brain. This causes a certain form of dementia in which the patient loses the ability to take care of himself over time. Some of the first symptoms of Alzheimer’s Disease is memory loss, disorientation and communication problems. They may also show signs of aggressive behavior, wandering and becoming more withdrawn.

While caring for a patient with this condition there are lots of strategies to communicate with them better. Some of these include always approaching the patient from the front so as not to startle them. If the patient acts as if he doesn’t want you to be too close, honor their wishes and be patient. Reducing noise and distractions help keep the patient calm. Make sure to speak clearly with a soft tone of voice. It’s always a good idea to move slowly and describe what you are doing. Use simple words and short sentences. Make sure you aren’t tense or hurried, as the patient will pick up on this and it might frighten them. When the person shows signs of memory loss, simply repeat yourself to clarify. Use the same words so as not to confuse them further. Doing things in a repetitious way is soothing to an Alzheimer’s patient, so try to do things as closely as you can the schedule the patient is used to.
If the person repeats himself by asking the same question repeatedly, be patient and give the same answer each time. If a complex task like bathing needs to be done, try to break it up into smaller parts that are easier.

At times, patients with this condition won’t be able to find the right word they need to convey their needs. The patient will be very frustrated by this. If this should happen, try suggesting words similar to the topic at hand. Don’t correct the patient when he/she uses the wrong word because it will only upset them and cause them unecessary embarassment.

If the patient has lost his verbal skills and you have to communicate with them, try using non-verbal modes of communication. They may continue to understand that you are smiling at them, or touching their hand gently and trying to comfort them.

A few of the problems a caregiver can come across while helping their loved one is problems arising from incontinence. If this occurs, follow schedules for providing drinking fluid, always making sure the patient is being hydrated properly. If possible, try offering to take the person to the toilet every 30 minutes. Don’t show any negative emotions in reaction to a person’s incontinence.

Sometimes patients with Alzheimer’s might not want to bathe. Try scheduling baths at the same time every day in order to reduce the emotional trauma. Hand the patient the wash cloth, soap and other supplies which may help he or she remember what bath time is. Walk slowly with the patient to the bathing area. Make sure the bathroom is a comfortable temperature and well-lit. Stay calm and quiet, using a soft tone of voice. Keep the process as simple as possible. Sometimes handing the patient a wash cloth to hold onto will distract them while you bathe them. If it so happens that the patient is being caused too much emotional distress by regular bathing, sponge baths are a vialbe option. Making sure to keep the patient calm and not afraid is the single most important thing to do.
The Tulsa memory support system uses daily exercise in addition to outing and group activities to help residents who suffer from Alzheimer’s Disease. They provide individual plans for each patient based on their specific needs . The staff is always well qualified to care for patients with Alzheimer’s and are carefully selected as well qualified and trusted individuals.

Patience and compassion are of the utmost importance when caring for a person with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Paternity Fraud Harms our Kids

Written by Post on Friday, January 15th, 2010 in Home & Family.

The harm caused by paternity fraud is not in doubt.  Think about this…  A Woman’s Day poll shows that 50%+ of the respondants would willfully lie about paternity in order to secure child support.  DNA tests performed against men named by the mothers show that 30% of them are totally innocent.. were excluded as the childs biological father.  Having no recourse for victims of paternity fraud is designed into the system by the State.    That if you, your husband, your son, your father is named as “the dad” then they will pay… forever.  And the damage inflicted on marriages, families, the health of the victim, his family, and the deceived children themselves is preventable and unnecessary.

And it seems that there is no help in sight.  Pleading to Legislatures to put truth and justice into the system falls on deaf ears.  Federal funds are distributed to States for every child support case they process and manage.  As long as they can name anyone and make them pay the State government gets the benefit of Federal largess.  There arn’t support groups, financial assistance, counseling, or any other help available to the families who are paying for children they had no part in bringing in to this world.  “But what about these children?” is a common rebuke we hear.  Well, what about these children?    Since the mother of these children either lied or simply doesn’t know who the real father is these children have no valid paternal medical history available.  They are emotionally damaged due to the lie their mother constructed for them to live.  Money collected on their behalf cannot fix this.  Only by honoring the real truth can.

The mothers that choose to lie (or just don’t know which guy) fathered their children are the only beneficiaries of this fraud.  This is not in the best interest of our children.  Many States consider their forcing non-biological “fathers” to pay is part of mandating parental relationships with the children.  Most of the cases we’ve seen the mothers are preventing contact, have moved away, or they have never had contact with the children.    Sometimes this is the man’s choice.     However there are hundreds of thousands of cases where all these mothers really want for their child is money. They do not believe that having a father in their child’s life is important and even if they do they are ignoring the real father of the child.  Children are inflicted with damage that will never heal when they discover that the person their mother told them was their father isn’t.  Where they really come from and who is the real dad stresses them out even further.  All since their mother either doesn’t know who fathered her children or has chosen to lie about it.

Then you look at the biological children of this same man….  They have to live with the lack of finances, high stress, and demoralization of a system that should be preventing this.    These children have to suffer financially and emotionally throughout their lives. Many times these children are in an environment filled with stress, hardship, and marital difficulty caused solely by paternity fraud.  The hardships of this are something they should not have to suffer.  They see that they can benefit from fraud and lying.  What message is it that we are sending to these children?    Allowing paternity fraud is definitely not in their best interest.

We need to end this injustice to our children.  We need to make a positive example in Missouri and show every other State that paternity fraud will not be tolerated here.  The time to end paternity fraud in Missouri is now.  Our children cannot afford less.
